The buildings are at the centre of a major multimodal network: three motorways connecting Spain, Italy and northern Europe are in the immediate vicinity. The Les Fabriques neighbourhood enjoys excellent connectivity within the city. A diverse range of sustainable transport options and public transport services is available. Two tram lines provide a link to Castellane and the Palais Longchamp in just a few minutes. A metro line runs the entire length of Euroméditerranée. Les Fabriques, a dynamic urban project

A high-quality living environment, for both living and working

At the heart of the Euroméditerranée 2 zone, this 250,000 m² project will promote a mix of uses, including residential properties, schools, offices and public facilities. The Les Fabriques neighbourhood embodies the vision of a collaborative, innovative eco-neighbourhood open to all, focused on recycling, frugality and community. The result of collective intelligence, the project ensures the transfer of knowledge and social diversity within an environment conducive to connected makers, designers, producers and entrepreneurs who manufacture locally and inspire one another.

The neighbourhood will be interwoven with pedestrian paths, shaded alleyways and public squares, encouraging walking and soft mobility. A range of shared services and spaces will be made available to residents to make their daily lives easier, including a concierge service, a digital platform and internet access for all, communal gardens and car-sharing schemes. A vibrant neighbourhood with 20,000 m² earmarked for a refurbished flea market, housing (for a total of 8,000 people), student accommodation, housing for the elderly and serviced apartments, sports facilities, training centres and schools, as well as a media library and a crèche. In addition, significant space will be dedicated to businesses, with offices and co-working spaces (44,000 m²). 

France’s largest collaborative and socially responsible manufacturing hub

Located at the heart of the future ‘Les Fabriques’ eco-neighbourhood, Ici Marseille opened its doors on 11 October 2018. Housed in a vast 3,500 m² warehouse, Ici Marseille offers 200 craftspeople and entrepreneurs private workshops, co-working spaces, shared production and manufacturing tools, digital tools and 3D printers for creating objects and prototypes, meeting rooms and a gallery-showroom open to the public. All this for a rent ranging from €200 to €300 per month. A true ‘makerspace’ designed and created by Linkcity and UrbanEra. The aim of this project is to produce goods within the city and in close contact with its residents, to revive forgotten skills and enable entrepreneurs to make a living from their passion, whilst offering local services, a warm, friendly atmosphere and mutual support. 

The project in figures and key dates:

• Les Fabriques comprises 17,000 m² of housing, 44,000 m² of space dedicated to service sector activities, 24,000 m² of retail space and 10,000 m² of public facilities. Due for completion by 2022, the project is expected to create 800 jobs.
• Key dates: 2018 marked the arrival of the makers; 2020 saw the start of construction work; in 2022, the first residents will be able to move into the new homes; and in 2023, the tram line will serve the Les Fabriques neighbourhood.
