Malaga, the central nerve of our international development
Luc Bossaert, Chief Strategy Officer at Adessa Group, returns to invest-HUB to talk about the objectives of SD Worx’s subsidiary and the role of Malaga in its international development.
Can you introduce us to Adessa Group?
Adessa Group was created in 2005 to assist - via a range of HR cloud software and services - major accounts and public markets in solving their HR problems, whether they concern payroll, management, workforce, or talent management... In 2020, our acquisition of SD Worx enabled us to take a step forward and to complete our know-how and network to become a key partner for major companies on the European market.

18 months later, is your progress meeting your objectives?
At the end of 2019, we were 379 in the group. Now, we have nearly 600 employees. It can be clearly stated that Adessa is now a driving force for SD Worx’s growth, which wants to pursue and accelerate its development with pan-European companies.
An objective that includes the development of several offices on the continent and particularly in Malaga?
Malaga is undoubtedly one of the sources of our growth. We opened our offices in Andalusia in 2015 and were immediately attracted by the dynamism of the region, which, through its development agency, immediately embraced our project and did all it took to facilitate our establishment. This is still the case today as, since the takeover of Adessa by SD Worx, our workforce in Andalusia has increased more than five times: from 18 to just over 100. This increment should not be interrupted since we should quickly rely on 200 or 300 employees more soon.

Can you tell us more about Malaga's role in the group's project?
The Malaga centre will play a crucial role in our international development plan. We already manage numerous end-to-end projects for our clients throughout Europe from this location. It must be said that the territory has many strengths, whether in the linguistic field with many multilingual students with remarkable technical skills. The health crisis has also confirmed that it is entirely possible to manage ambitious projects working from home if you have the right infrastructure, and we certainly have it!
Malaga has good weather; it is a pleasant place to live in…
In addition to offering us all the equipment we need to carry out our project, we also have an exceptional climate in Malaga. And I am not only talking about the sun but also the necessary conditions for the development of business and innovation. The quality of life, the gastronomy, the international culture, the good dynamics and the desire to move forward are reasons for an ambitious company to set up in an ideal environment to launch or develop its activity. Here, it is not difficult to attract talent. The territory also helps us to imagine solutions that meet the needs of our future collaborators. We are working together with the Promalaga agency on our expansion plans, which will undoubtedly include the acquisition of new offices.
