Regional aid areas (AFR or ZAFR) are the result of the European Union's desire to involve public authorities more in the economic development of territories in difficulty. Regional aid offers companies the possibility of receiving subsidies for productive investments or for the creation of jobs linked to these investments.

The aid granted by the State or local authorities to companies located in AFR zones can cover:

  • The costs of investments in land, equipment, premises or intangible assets (e.g. patents),
  • The salary costs of jobs created, over a period of 2 years.

In such territories, the public authorities will be able to grant aid to companies making investments and creating jobs, in compliance with maximum aid rates, which are higher for SMEs and in the overseas departments.

All companies, subject to a real tax regime, that are intended to make profits.

Associations can benefit from this measure, as long as they carry out a lucrative activity that makes them liable to corporation tax and their activity meets the conditions for benefiting from it.
