Features of the offices

As the first project of the Phosphore laboratory created by Eiffage in 2007, Smartseille reflects the Eiffage group’s desire to anticipate and direct research and development towards a truly global approach to sustainable urban development, where progress would no longer be measured solely in terms of technological advances, but would also take into account the adaptation of the city to the consequences of both climate change and social change. 

 

The city of Marseille and the public development agency Euroméditerranée, also involved in this process, have made this project a reality by allocating a 2.7-hectare plot of land to the group in the north of Marseille, on the site of a former gas plant, to act as a demonstrator of innovation and know-how for the benefit of the inhabitants and users of a sustainable Mediterranean city. 

 

Smartseille is one of the 3 components of the EcoCité label awarded by the French government in 2009 to the Euroméditerranée expansion.
